As 2016 comes to an end, there is a certain buzz that starts building up at Monkey HQ. Though it’s really a never ending process, we are about to kick it into high gear preparing for the biggest, most awesome event we are a part of each year: Monkey Muster!
We often get a lot of questions about the Muster from folks who aren’t yet in the know. Well, the easiest way to bring everyone up to speed is to give a rundown of the fun, antics, and shenanigans from last year’s Monkey Muster IV.  Hinderer Knives innovated the concept of the user configurable knife with the legendary XM-18 folder. When the new Hinderer MP-1 folder made its debut people took notice how Rick and the gang were taking the configuration concept to the next level with the introduction of the Hinderer Modular Backspacer System (HMBS). The HMBS allowed the user to change out the backspacer of their knife without even taking the knife apart. Just loosen a set screw, and swap it out. Different materials, colors, and even functions are soon to come. Well, seeing as how the XM-18 is one of the most successful folders of all time, Rick created a retrofit kit that would allow the user to convert their XM-18 to HMBS. The kit comes with all the hardware you need to perform the conversion and an aluminum backspacer of your color choice. It is super easy to install, so we thought we would give you a quick run-down. How Monkey Edge Treats Limited Items, And Why. It is a fact of life that often when it comes to cool things, there is far less supply than demand. Meaning (sometimes literally), there are more asses than there are seats. We here at Monkey Edge can sympathize. We do actually happen to be real people and like to buy in-demand gear and cool things ourselves, and often miss out by seconds! Let’s take a quick detour down memory lane of my hessian youth: I can remember being a kid and saving like crazy for Metallica tickets, then waiting in line for over 24 hours. (Remember this was pre-internet and you used to have actually go down to the box office and just sit … without an iPhone to keep you entertained.) At any rate, I can remember waiting in line only to get to the counter and STILL only get crappy seats in the back. I was pissed. |
